what is sneakernet all about?Primarily, the insani sneakernet is a means for us to distribute our translation releases to those who are unable to obtain them normally over the internet. We do this by mailing out DVD's to participants, who agree to mail them on to someone else when later asked, to help out others who also want our releases this way. Naturally, you can copy all the files off the disc to keep before you send it on its way. Additionally, we may be conducting small-scale social experiments with the sneakernet in the future — for instance, we might send a DVD along a predetermined route along with a notebook that each participant would be asked to fill in one page — with the complete notebook finally coming back to us for scanning and presentation online. So to answer your question, what is the sneakernet all about? Having fun. Together. what is being distributed?A DVD-R disc with all our released translations on it, as well as the rest of the al|together 2005 festival games. The contents of the disc will get periodically updated as we release more translations or include games from later festivals. what should I expect? After you sign up (before you ask just 'how' you do that, think about it for a moment...), you will receive a confirmation e-mail from us, and then later you should receive a disc in the mail either directly from us or from one of the prior sneakernet participants. At some future time you may receive an email from us asking you to mail out the disc again to another specific participant. what do I get out of this?Easy access to our releases, for people who cannot download them due to slow internet access or prohibitive firewall policies. The discs are free, although you will have to pay for postage yourself when asked to send one on to someone else. what do you get out of this? The satisfaction of a job done right. What did you expect? Imouto Bloomers? |
